For Sellers
The Coffee Stain That Sold the Couch

A seller we know photographed a floral sofa like a catalog: two angles, a plant, a prayer. It sat. The same sofa, reshot with the coffee stain on the armrest in full daylight and a note that said "yes, that is coffee, no, it does not wipe off," sold in eleven hours.
Shoppers on Garage Sale are hunting second-hand on purpose. They already accepted that someone else sat here, spilled here, and watched bad television here. What they will not accept is a five-hour drive to discover the "light wear" is a topographic map of 2014.
If you are pricing like a dealer, shoot like a dealer who still has a conscience. One honest close-up of the worst bit does more for your conversion than three lifestyle shots of a throw pillow you do not even sell.
Inside tip: put the flaw in image two, not image one. Hero shot still sells the dream. Image two proves you are not running a magic show.
Comments
As a shopper: the honest close-up is the whole reason I drive. If image two is a crime, I stay home.
Shot the chip on my dining table like you said. Sold before dinner. The buyer thanked me for not hiding it. I nearly hid it.
